Install Task Scheduler Windows Xp Embedded End Of Support

Well, thank you for the reply.I found this:which seems to address part of my problem and then found info elsewhere thatsetting up task scheduler for monthly defrag will screw up the scheduler. I deleted the registry key for monthly defrag and then followed the instruct from the link above and this seemed to reset the task scheduler. It did not perform the first autotask I set, but at least I don't get error messages just by opening the program. Just too bad that I thought tasks were being done for 2 years when they weren't at all and no error messages. As for the other issue, sfc / scannow has never showed a problem and same for chkdsk. I just did a system image scan with 3rd party software which shows 1800 registry errors and other stability problems.

I'm guessing many problems now related to that. Not sure where to start within event viewer, there's no specific error message and problems gradually built up, so I can't pinpoint a date.I'm not going to attempt any upgrade to win10. I made the mistake of running the MS checker tool which said my PC was fine for the upgrade.

I didn't realize I couldn't just trust the MS evaluator-checker and was supposed to check the manufacturer as well. After the failed upgrade, I later found that HP did not have 'proven' compatibility with win 10. End of story. Not going to try again.Hopefully the link above will help someone else with my question. And I guess I have to assume that task scheduler can not simply be reinstalled like a regular 3rd party program since it is so integrated with windows.
